Dr. McGrew received her degree from Louisiana State University SOM in 1984 and completed residency training in Family Practice at Louisiana State University SOM. She earned a fellowship in Faculty Development. She is board certified in Family Practice.

Martha Mcgrew, MD, Department of Family and Community Medicine, University of New Mexico School of Medicine; and the Department of Health, conducted a Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants, and Children.

They studied the effect of functional health literacy on the initiation and continuance of breast-feeding in women at a public health clinic. Many patients need simpler health education materials encouraging breast-feeding. These materials are needed both before and during pregnancy.
