Mexican casinos, possible change coming to Mexico!

The Mexican government has prohibited casinos and gambling. However, with a recent push from several Congress members and representatives from the Chamber of Commerce, this might soon change.

There is an initiative now under review in the Mexican Congress that would negate the anti-gambling law. Because gambling and casinos are illegal in Texas, residents may take a day or weekend trips to nearby Mexican cities. Despite the negatives, it is believed that casinos will be a necessary economic boost for Mexico.

Even if the Mexican Congress approves casinos, actual development still is about two years away; investment from United States and Mexico-based companies will be considered. Mexico will develop and manage Las Vegas-style Mexican casinos in the Pacific Coast tourist resorts of Acapulco and Mazatlan. It is believed to be the first time an American Indian tribe has negotiated a nation-to-nation diplomatic agreement for casino development outside the United States.
