Being responsive to community needs, the University of New Mexico strives to develop improved models to ensure public health and deliver comprehensive care efficiently and effectively. Health science center is proud to be full partners with the State of New Mexico in educating and training the next generation of health professionals to provide quality care to our citizens.
The components of the health science center include academic as well as patient care units. Academic components include the School of Medicine, College of Nursing, College of Pharmacy, and the Health Sciences Center Library. Patient care components include the Cancer Research & Treatment Center, Carrie Tingley Children's Hospital, Children's Hospital of New Mexico, Children's Psychiatric Hospital, the UNM Mental Health Center, and the University Hospital. Over 122,500 patients are treated annually at these clinical facilities; clinic visits totaled 636,638 in FY97.
